Second Life Community Standards

There are six second life community standards that should be followed at all times during your time in second life. They are basically like the laws/rights that we have in the real world, but for second life, these are called the "Big Six".

Here is a brief run down of the Big Six which can be read in full HERE

Intolerance

- Judging people based on their digital appearance and verbally abusing them because of their race, ethnicity, age, sex etc.

Harassment

- Any unwanted behavior ranging from threats to intimidation

Assault

- Targeting a resident and preventing them from having fun

Disclosure

- Releasing any private information about a Second Life resident's real identity or alternate account names and conversation logs.

Adult regions, groups and listings

- No adult content should seen on the mainland, regions or group that are not rated adult

Disturbing the Peace

- Anything that is intentionally or repeatably disruptive or distracting to the public.

The Big Six can easily be remembered by the phrase IHADAD

Why you think they have been created?

As soon as we feel that we are no longer linked to the action we commit it can become a game of pushing the boundaries. The Big Six has been created to keep residents happy and help everyone know what is right and wrong when you're present in a virtual world.

How you would make sure you do not violate the standards

Basically if you are acting the same way you would in public you are abiding by the Big Six

A brief description of what to do if you think that someone else is abusing the standards

If someone is consistently and intentionally being a jerk and not following the Big Six tell them to politely stop. If they persist then you tell them that you will report them, if they don't stop then report. This gives them a chance to stop what they are doing and apologies
